Redbox Video Game Advertised Sales Test Fact Sheet

OAKBROOK TERRACE, Ill.Redbox will feature video games in addition to new release DVDs at redbox locations in Reno, Nevada and Wilmington, North Carolina beginning August 14, 2009.  The addition of video games to the popular redbox new release DVD kiosks is part of a test to gauge consumer interest in video game rentals.

Type of Platforms:

 

Redbox kiosks will feature video games from the top platforms, including: Wii™, PLAYSTATION® 3, PlayStation® 2, Xbox 360® and Nintendo DS (coming soon)

Costs:

 

Video game rentals will be $2 per night plus tax.  The consumer can keep the game for as long as they’d like.  After 25 nights, rental charges cease and the game is the customer’s to keep.

Games Featured:

 

Redbox will feature a variety of video game titles with ratings from eC (Early Childhood) to M (Mature).

Market Selection:

 

The test is designed to gauge consumer interest in video games.  Before determining if we will feature video games nationwide, we will test the concept to determine consumer interest and preference.
